To address long-term, sustainable employment, CGH is expanding its services to strengthen and lengthen employment retention and to develop a deeper self-awareness and self-sufficiency in the personal and professional lives of CGH clients affected by the hurricanes. The Star Networking Alumni Program (SNAP) will assist clients in life’s building blocks that include interpersonal/work skills through relevant topics, general wellness activities, and the opportunity for participants to build a career wardrobe with the additional clothing items that they will receive.

SNAP’s features and benefits are:

Participants will attend up to eight workshops.

Topics to be offered include, but are not limited to:

Credit assistance; financial literacy; spirituality; time management; stress management; coping skills; after the storm: daily survival skills; home ownership; licensed chemical dependency counselor sponsored group therapy sessions, GED test preparation reviews, hygiene and health; nutrition; career strategies and other work/life skills and topics.

Participants will receive additional items of clothing to help supplement and continue to build their working wardrobe at each workshop.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion after completing all eight sessions and a STAR card to use with designated businesses for discounts on services and products.

Participants will plan and participate in community building activities that will serve to bring hurricane survivors together in an atmosphere of familiarity that will expose them to career building.
